ELECTRICAL TEAM LEADER (Substation Construction) –DIREK - SA PROJECTS

Substation Projects | 10/4 Roster | Up to 330kV Infrastructure | Circa $270K incl. overtime + 13% superannuation & LAFHA

With our South Australian project portfolio continuing to grow, we’re looking for an experienced, trade-qualified Substation Electrical Team Leader to join our project teams.

This is an opportunity for an established electrical leader to bring their substation construction expertise, leadership experience and hands-on approach to a business delivering major energy infrastructure across South Australia.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Electrical Team Leader, you’ll bring your established leadership experience and substation expertise to the day-to-day delivery of major electrical construction projects across South Australia.

You’ll lead from experience, setting the standard for safe work, coordinating your crew and ensuring everyone understands the work, hazards, controls and priorities before work begins.

You’ll organise electrical crews, allocate tasks, coordinate resources and manage daily priorities to keep work fronts progressing safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

This is a hands-on leadership role where your technical knowledge matters. You’ll provide guidance to your team, work alongside electricians when required and draw on your experience to resolve construction challenges as they arise.

Working closely with the Construction Manager, Electrical Supervisor and wider project team, you’ll help coordinate electrical activities and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project, quality and technical requirements.

This is a 24-month contract opportunity, with potential opportunities beyond the initial contract as Enerven’s project portfolio continues to grow.

DAY TO DAY YOU WILL:

• Lead with safety, setting clear expectations and ensuring your team understands site hazards, controls, permits and safe work requirements.
• Organise and coordinate electrical crews, daily work schedules, tasks and priorities.
• Conduct and support pre-starts, toolbox meetings and daily team briefings.
• Allocate work and coordinate labour, materials, tools and equipment required for planned activities.
• Provide technical guidance and remain hands-on with electrical construction activities when required.
• Coordinate with the Supervisor, Construction Manager, contractors and other work teams to keep work fronts progressing.
• Monitor progress and communicate any safety, quality, resource or delivery issues.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, ITPs and project requirements.
• Support electrical testing, commissioning and project handover activities.

Projects are delivered across South Australia on a 10/4 roster, giving you the opportunity to work on substantial infrastructure while remaining SA-based.

ABOUT YOU

You’re an experienced Electrician and established electrical leader with a strong background in substation construction and a proven history of leading teams in the field.

You bring deep technical knowledge, genuine leadership experience and excellent people skills. You’re a natural communicator who builds strong relationships, earns the respect of your team and brings people together to achieve a common goal.

You take pride in setting high standards and leading by example. Safety is fundamental to who you are as a leader — you plan carefully, identify risks, communicate clearly and support your team to make safe decisions every day.

You’re approachable, reliable and accountable, with the ability to give clear direction while creating a team environment where people feel respected, supported and comfortable speaking up.

You’re also hands-on by nature, bringing the practical experience and technical understanding of a seasoned Substation Electrician to the way you lead.

We’re looking for someone who has the experience to lead, the technical capability to understand the work and the people skills to bring a great team together.

YOU'LL BRING:

• Trade qualification with a current SA Electrical Workers Licence and Driver’s Licence.
• Demonstrated experience in substation construction and electrical installation.
• Previous experience leading or coordinating electrical crews.
• Strong understanding of electrical construction safety, permits, isolations and safe work practices.
• Experience with HV equipment, switchgear, transformers, cabling and associated substation plant.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and single-line diagrams.
• Experience with control wiring, electrical terminations, earthing and bonding.
• Understanding of testing, commissioning, quality and ITP requirements.
• Experience across transmission, distribution, renewable energy or BESS will be highly regarded.
