About the role

Enerven has been awarded our largest ElectraNet project to date, supporting the future Submarine Construction Yard at Osborne. The scope includes a new 275kV substation, LeFevre Substation expansion and major underground and overhead transmission works.

As Project Safety Lead, you’ll provide senior safety leadership across this high-profile project, working closely with the Senior Project Manager and Project Delivery team, and leading a team of WHS Advisors.

This is a highly visible, site-based leadership role where you’ll shape project safety strategy, drive critical risk management, lead contractor assurance and incident response, and engage directly with workers, supervisors and project leaders to build a strong safety culture.

Day to day you will:

• Lead WHS mobilisation, establishing project-specific safety systems, plans, risk assessments, assurance programs and client requirements.
• Provide visible safety leadership across the project, working closely with project leaders, workers, supervisors and contractors.
• Lead the identification and management of high-risk construction activities, with a strong focus on critical risks and verification of critical controls.
• Provide expert WHS advice to project leadership, ensuring compliance with legislation, client requirements, ISO 45001 and Enerven’s Safety Management System.
• Oversee contractor WHS performance, assurance and continuous improvement.
• Lead significant incident, hazard and near-miss investigations, driving learning and preventative action.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of WHS Advisors while driving workforce engagement and positive safety behaviours.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Enerven’s WHS systems, standards and Safety Management Framework.
  
  

About you

You’re an experienced construction safety professional who can operate confidently at both a strategic and operational level, with the credibility to influence from the frontline through to senior project leadership.

You’ll bring:

• Significant WHS experience across major construction, infrastructure, energy or other high-risk environments.
• Proven experience supporting or leading complex projects within a project management team.
• Strong expertise in construction risk management, critical controls and high-consequence activities.
• Experience leading WHS teams and influencing senior stakeholders to achieve strong safety outcomes.
• Sound contractor management and assurance capability.
• Experience managing significant incidents and leading investigations through to meaningful corrective action.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach, balancing strong safety standards with the realities of project delivery.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in WHS, Safety, Risk or related discipline.
• Experience across electrical infrastructure, transmission, utilities or high-voltage environments will be highly regarded.
