We have multiple permanent and contract Powerline Worker positions available across our Distribution Services, Public Lighting and Olympic Dam teams in South Australia! Let us know your preference, we would love to hear from you.  

As a Powerline Worker at Olympic Dam, you will be involved in:

  • Maintaining the Transmission and Distribution assets in the region
  • Climbing to inspect 275kV towers, asset inspection, typical distribution works as well as service connection and lighting 
  • Long term maintenance contracts for BHP, OZ Minerals, Roxby Downs Council and Department of Defence to name a few
  • Further, you will receive a $42,900 (gross, subject to PAYG) per year zone allowance in addition to your yearly earnings, 3 months free accommodation and a further retention incentive package after 18 months

As a Powerline Worker in our Distribution Services team, you will be involved in:

  • Maintaining and constructing SA Power Networks distribution assets – both overhead and underground on Low Voltage, 11KV and 33KV lines (poles, wires, TF’s, HV switches etc.)
  • Project work – Conductor replacement, new line builds, new TFs etc.
  • Live low voltage maintenance and construction 
  • High voltage switching 
  • Live line tree trimming 

In our Public Lighting crew, you will be responsible for:

  • Bulk LED lighting upgrades
  • Light construction work (install new lighting brackets and wiring on existing poles)
  • Connection and energisation of new land divisions, including HV & LV switching and the installation of load switches (dependent on skill level)
  • SLO (Single Light Out), undertake a variety of work that includes fault finding and repair of public lighting infrastructure including underground and overhead systems.

What you will need:

  • Distribution (Powerline) Trade Certificate & the ability to apply for and hold an SA Electrical Workers Registration.
  • Current drivers’ licence – HR (beneficial).
  • A strong commitment to working safely
  • The ability to learn new skills and adapt to changes in standards, systems, and technologies.
  • A willingness to lead a crew as required in a temporary leadership position

The successful candidate may be required to work overtime as required, perform availability duties, and work away as required both intra and interstate.
