The Role:

Buoyed by the demand of growth of the renewables industry, Enerven is expanding its team to undertake EPC/D&C substation projects for Transmission Networks Service Providers (TNSP) within the Eastern states for Australia. 

The Principal Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing design, studies and project support, along with the expertise and technical authority for Enerven’s substation and renewables program.

A key part of this role will be to mentor and develop engineers within the Electrical Engineering discipline, along with leading the development and delivery of processes, procedures and templates to improve the efficiency and quality of engineering output. You will also be responsible for reviewing engineering deliverables and providing technical authority sign off, and being project lead when required. You will also have a key working relationship with the business development team supporting complex projects to ensure optimal solutions by assisting in preparation of conceptual designs, estimates and project proposals.

Key Competencies:

  • Provide Electrical Engineering support & expertise in the area of substations.
  • Produce engineering deliverables, develop & maintain Technical Authority/ expertise of the nature:
    • Single Line Diagrams and General Arrangements
    • Lighting & Lightning studies
    • Earthing design & commissioning
    • HV/ LV cable designs
    • Induction/ EMF Studies
    • Insulation Co-ordination
    • AC/DC maximum demands
    • HV Primary Plant specification & selection
    • Substation Auxiliary Systems (DC system, AC changeover, DC changeover)
  • Lead, Mentor and develop other electrical engineers/ graduate engineers and undergraduate engineers.
  • Deliver processes, procedures, and templates to improve the efficiency and quality of engineering designs for Utility Substations and Renewables.
  • As required act as a Project Lead for the engineering & design project team.
  • Ensure compliance of design with relevant design standards, regulations & Australian Standards
  • Implement Value engineering initiatives throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide site-based engineering support as needed through construction & commissioning.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng)
  • Project and Design Leadership / Management experience
  • On-site project experience
  • Current drivers’ license
  • Ability to travel intrastate, interstate or internationally
  • Ability to work out of hours when required
