The Role:
Enerven are currently looking for a Switching Planning Officer on a 12-month contract who will be responsible for the preparation, processing and approval of planned switching programs including those related to construction and maintenance activities. The Switching Planning Officer is accountable and must work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that switching programs to establish access to the network are developed to deliver the highest standards of safety, and continuity of supply.
The ideal candidate will have a solid electrical background in distribution and transmission networks, with experience in planning and outage coordination. A key aspect of the role will involve working closely with customers and internal project delivery teams. This office-based position will be part of a diverse team of planners and outage coordinators, focused on the following:
Key competencies:
- Prepare, schedule, write, check & approve planned & contingency switching programs
- Ensure that planned switching operations meet all customer service and regulatory requirements
- Prioritise switching program requests to meet customer and network requirements
- Prepare & develop contingency programs for critical plant operations
- Prepare and process switching programs for Emergency Response and Fire Danger Level events
- Provide technical direction to field personnel on safe switching operations
- Contribute to the technical content for standards pertaining to switching
- Communicate with switching operators regarding current switching procedures and policies
- Liaise & coordinate with network stakeholders regarding all planned operations at interface points
- Provide support to real time network operations, especially during emergency and high volume event
- Ensure that switching planning plans are developed to meet the customers access requirements
- Ensure that all customers are notified of planned network interruptions in accordance with regulations and that planned outages satisfy internal network directives
- Ensure that internal and external customers are updated on the progress of network access requests
What you will need:
- HV switching accreditation is desirable
- Certificate of Trade (Electrical) or the equivalent level of skills and knowledge in the operation of the Network gained through experience.
- A minimum of 8 years post trade or equivalent experience, in the operation and maintenance of high voltage electrical distribution systems
- Driver’s Licence – class car
Other Conditions:
- Must be prepared to undertake work outside normal hours as required
- May be required to travel intra/interstate including staying away overnight
