Enerven delivers electrical infrastructure and telecommunications solutions that are vital to connecting communities across Australia. Our design, construction, and maintenance services ensure reliable power generation, transmission, and distribution to homes and businesses nationwide – and our commitment to renewable energy and resilient grid infrastructure sets us apart.

The expertise and dedication of our people spans the entire electricity network, so careers at Enerven are defined by meaningful contributions and impactful work.

At Enerven, we’re connecting you with tomorrow.

About the role

As Enerven continues to grow its presence across New South Wales, we're looking for an Environment Consultant to join our team and support a diverse portfolio of energy infrastructure projects, including transmission, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and renewable energy connections.

This is an opportunity to be involved in projects from the early tender and planning stages through to construction and delivery, gaining exposure to a broad range of environmental challenges along the way.

Working closely with our project delivery teams, you'll provide practical environmental advice, identify and manage risks, and help ensure our projects meet their environmental obligations while minimising impacts on the communities and environments in which we operate.

No two days will look quite the same. You could be reviewing environmental requirements for a future project, working with consultants on environmental management plans, advising construction teams on site or helping resolve an emerging environmental issue.

Day to day, you will:

  • Provide practical environmental advice and support to Project Managers, Construction Managers and site teams across multiple NSW projects.
  • Review tender documentation, environmental approvals and project requirements to identify risks, constraints and potential costs.
  • Develop, review and support the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and associated environmental controls.
  • Undertake site inspections, audits and environmental risk assessments to monitor compliance with legislation, approvals and project requirements.
  • Work with contractors, specialist consultants and project stakeholders to manage environmental requirements, including vegetation, biodiversity and contamination matters.
  • Support environmental incident management, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proactively identify environmental risks and work with delivery teams to develop practical solutions.

Ideally based in the Newcastle or Hunter Region, we’re also open to considering Sydney-based candidates. You’ll work across a mix of office and project environments, with regular travel to sites throughout NSW. As some projects are several hours away, flexibility for day trips and overnight stays is a required part of the role. A company vehicle will be provided for work-related travel.

About you

You're an environmental professional who enjoys being involved in the practical side of project delivery. You're comfortable working with construction teams, managing competing priorities and providing clear, confident advice when environmental risks or compliance matters arise.

You'll enjoy the variety of working across different projects and be someone who can adapt, build relationships and take ownership of your work.

To be successful, you'll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Management, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Environmental experience in construction, mining, infrastructure or similar operational environments.
  • Sound knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with environmental management plans, site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to influence project teams and contractors.
  • A current driver's licence and Construction White Card.
