About the role
Join Enerven as a Senior Secondary Engineer, where you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality designs for HV/UHV substations and renewable energy systems. Reporting to Protection & Secondary Engineering lead, you’ll contribute technical leadership, mentorship and expertise across complex projects.
As the Senior Secondary Engineer, you will provide technical support and guidance to team members, act as a technical authority of secondary designs whilst playing a key role in the successful delivery of designs across the project portfolio. You will support the Secondary Team Lead and contribute expert knowledge across all Secondary-related deliverables.
Day to day you will:
- Develop HV/UHV substation and renewables designs, including SLDs, schematics, general arrangements and cable schedules, load calculation, etc.
- Provide technical authority, guidance and mentoring to the Secondary engineers within the discipline
- Support the development and improvement of engineering processes, procedures and templates
- Support the business development team with conceptual designs, estimates and proposals for complex projects
- Collaborate closely with engineers, designers and drafters to ensure efficient, high-quality project outcomes
- Providing technical engineering advice, you will make sound decisions based on technical, commercial, and contractual requirements and work with internal and external stakeholders.
About you
You will be required to have detailed knowledge of secondary design, familiar with protection schemes, substation and renewables engineering principles, knowledge in HV and UHV transmission protection design and power engineering fundamentals. You also need to be competent with technical management skills in leading, structuring and delivering processes, procedures and templates along with estimating skills for engineering.
What you will need:
- University degree in Electrical Engineering
- Registered with Engineers Australia – desirable
- CPEng / RPEQ registration - desirable
- Project and Design Leadership / Management experience
- Experience carrying out designs for major transmission utilities (particularly with Transgrid)
- Current drivers’ license
