Enerven delivers electrical infrastructure and telecommunications solutions that are vital to connecting communities across Australia. Our design, construction, and maintenance services ensure reliable power generation, transmission, and distribution to homes and businesses nationwide – and our commitment to renewable energy and resilient grid infrastructure sets us apart.
The expertise and dedication of our people spans the entire electricity network, so careers at Enerven are defined by meaningful contributions and impactful work.
At Enerven, we’re connecting you with tomorrow.
About the role
At Enerven, safety isn't something that happens from behind a desk. Our WHS Advisors are out where the work happens – alongside construction crews, supervisors and project teams, supporting the safe delivery of some of South Australia's most significant HV electrical maintenance and infrastructure projects.
We're looking for a WHS Advisor who understands construction, can talk to a crew as comfortably as they can talk to a Project Manager, and isn't afraid to get involved when they see something that needs attention.
With around 70% of your time field-based, you'll work across a diverse range of operational teams and sites, including remote work sites where you'll be the WHS presence on the ground.
You'll be involved in:
- Conducting safety observations, inspections and field audits
- Spending time with crews to understand how work is being performed and whether controls are effective
- Verifying procedures, SWMS and risk controls are being followed in practice
- Providing practical safety coaching and addressing issues as they arise
- Working with supervisors and project leaders to close out safety actions
- Attending pre-starts, toolbox talks and operational safety meetings
- Developing and reviewing SWMS and risk controls as new work and projects get underway
- Supporting incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions
- Conducting vehicle, plant and site safety checks
- Monitoring subcontractor compliance and performance
- Providing WHS input into contract management
- Monitoring safety systems including Enablon and SitePass
- Preparing monthly WHS reporting and project/client updates
- Attending client meetings and representing WHS in operational discussions
- Working alongside the Environment team on environmental matters identified in the field
About you
We're looking for someone who understands what it means to work in a high-risk construction environment and has experience with heavy civils works such as excavation, trenching, working at heights, mobile plant operation and civil construction.
You will also have a good understanding of electrical work environments and the hazards associated with working around HV electrical infrastructure.
But what matters most is that you're someone who can walk onto a site, understand the work, earn the crew's respect and have the conversation that needs to be had.
You will also bring:
- WHS experience within civil construction, electrical infrastructure, utilities or a similar high-risk environment
- A strong understanding of WHS legislation, codes, standards and safety systems
- Experience conducting safety observations, audits, inspections and risk assessments
- Confidence reviewing and developing SWMS and risk controls
- The ability to coach and influence rather than simply police compliance
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge when required
- The ability to build relationships with everyone from field crews to senior project leaders
- A practical, solutions-focused approach
- The ability to work autonomously across multiple sites and operational teams
- A current driver's licence and the flexibility to travel across South Australia
- A relevant WHS qualification such as a Cert IV or Diploma will be highly regarded
