About the role
This role is a Secondary Systems Electrical Engineer within Enerven’s NSW Engineering team, dedicated to Transgrid transmission and substation projects.
The role focuses on secondary engineering disciplines, including protection and control, SCADA, substation auxiliary systems and associated electrical studies. You will work as part of an in-house engineering team that undertakes technical assessments and design inputs that inform primary design and construction delivery.
The position is based in our Sydney office, with hybrid working arrangements and occasional client or site visits as required.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver and contribute to secondary systems engineering for transmission and substation projects
- Undertake and review electrical studies including earthing, lighting, lightning, LV systems and cable calculations
- Develop and review protection and control philosophies, settings and documentation
- Support SCADA, automation and communications interfaces for substations
- Ensure designs align with Transgrid requirements, Australian Standards and regulatory obligations
- Work closely with primary engineers, design partners and project teams to ensure coordinated outcomes
- Provide engineering input through construction and commissioning phases
About you
You are an Electrical Engineer with experience or strong interest in secondary systems within transmission and substation environments. You enjoy working in technically complex, regulated settings and take pride in producing high-quality engineering outcomes.
You may come from a utility, contractor or engineering consultancy background, or from an adjacent infrastructure sector with strong transferable skills.
To be successful, you will bring:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience in secondary systems, protection and control, SCADA or substation electrical studies
- Knowledge of HV/LV substation environments and regulated utility standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Desirable experience includes:
- Exposure to Transgrid or other TNSPs
- Protection relay configuration or testing experience
- SCADA and automation system integration
