About the role

At Enerven, we're delivering some of Australia's most significant energy infrastructure projects, helping connect communities, support industry and enable the energy transition.

This role can be based in either Adelaide, SA or Sydney, NSW, providing the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across Enerven's growing national operations.

As Head of Commercial, you will provide strategic commercial leadership across Enerven's project portfolio, ensuring commercial decisions drive value, manage risk and support successful project outcomes.

Reporting to the General Manager Finance & Commercial, you will lead a high-performing team of Commercial Managers and Contract Administrators while partnering closely with executive leaders, project directors, finance, legal and operational teams across the business.

This is a key leadership role with influence across major infrastructure projects, commercial strategy, contract governance, claims management and business performance.

This role offers the opportunity to shape and lead the commercial function for a growing infrastructure business delivering complex energy, utility and construction projects across Australia.

You will play a critical role in major commercial negotiations, risk management, project delivery and strategic decision-making, partnering directly with senior leaders to protect and enhance commercial outcomes across a diverse portfolio of work.

You'll join a business experiencing significant growth, with a strong pipeline of projects supporting Australia's energy future.

Day to day you will:

  • Lead the commercial function across Enerven's project portfolio
  • Provide strategic commercial advice to Executive Leadership, Project Directors and Delivery teams
  • Oversee contract negotiation, administration and governance across major projects
  • Drive commercial strategy, risk management and value creation initiatives
  • Lead claims, dispute resolution and contract performance activities
  • Ensure robust commercial reporting, forecasting and margin management practices
  • Support major bid submissions, procurement activities and commercial negotiations
  • Develop and mentor a team of Commercial Managers and Contract Administrators
  • Build strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, legal advisors and key stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement across commercial processes, systems and governance frameworks
  • Other requirements

Occasional intrastate and interstate travel may be required

You bring a strong background leading commercial teams within complex project environments and are comfortable operating at both executive and project level. You are a trusted advisor, skilled negotiator and confident decision-maker who can balance commercial risk with business opportunity.

You are known for building high-performing teams, influencing senior stakeholders and creating commercial frameworks that support successful project delivery.

 

To be successful you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Law, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Significant commercial leadership experience within infrastructure, utilities, energy, construction or major projects environments
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing commercial teams
  • Strong expertise in contract negotiation, contract administration and commercial governance
  • Experience managing commercial risk, claims and dispute resolution processes
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including cost control, forecasting and margin management
  • Proven ability to influence and engage senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working across large-scale project portfolios and complex contractual environments
