About the role
In a pivotal support capacity, the Principal Engineering Consultant plays a critical role in enabling Enerven’s 2026 and beyond vision to become a highly sought-after national engineering consultancy. You will help unlock and execute Enerven’s growing pipeline of future energy infrastructure projects, driving business growth and technical excellence. Working closely with executive-level stakeholders, you will articulate Enerven’s unique value proposition, manage risk and identify opportunities to position the organisation as a trusted partner in the energy transition.
You will step into a senior leadership role at the forefront of Australia’s evolving energy infrastructure sector. Providing expert technical guidance and strategic direction, you will lead the design, development and delivery of complex electrical infrastructure projects while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance. This role offers the opportunity to influence major project outcomes, engage closely with clients and stakeholders and mentor the next generation of engineers within a high-performing team.
Day to day you will:
- Provide senior technical guidance across the design, analysis and optimisation of transmission, distribution and renewable energy assets.
- Serve as a technical authority on complex electrical engineering matters, including network performance, grid stability and system resilience.
- Develop and deliver innovative, sustainable engineering solutions aligned to client objectives and project requirements.
- Ensure engineering outcomes meet Australian Standards and regulatory obligations, with safety and quality embedded throughout.
- Guide the full lifecycle delivery of large-scale electrical infrastructure projects, from early concept through to commissioning.
- Lead risk, quality and safety assurance activities, ensuring best-practice governance across projects.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering strategic insight and value-driven technical solutions.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to achieve integrated, whole-of-project outcomes.
- Represent the organisation as a senior technical leader at industry forums, conferences and client engagements.
- Mentor and develop engineers and consultants, strengthening capability, leadership and technical excellence.
- Deliver training and knowledge-sharing initiatives to uplift engineering standards across the business.
- Drive innovation and sustainability, integrating renewables, battery storage, microgrids and smart grid technologies
About you
We are looking for a confident and respected engineering leader with deep technical expertise and a passion for delivering high-quality outcomes. You will be commercially astute, collaborative, and comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and clients. A natural mentor, you bring a forward-thinking mindset and thrive in shaping innovative solutions within the evolving energy sector.
Specific qualifications and experience required include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia or equivalent.
- Specialised cross discipline technical expertise within the electrical infrastructure industry, with a focus on transmission, distribution, or renewable energy projects. Minimum 20-25 years of experience.
- Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing large-scale projects.
