About the role
This role supports the engineering, design and delivery of bulk civil works and civil infrastructure for substation and renewable energy projects. It involves preparing engineering calculations, drawings, and documentation for earthworks, drainage, roads, and detailing elements. The position works closely with engineers to develop and review designs, ensuring they meet Australian Standards and project requirements. It also contributes to improving design templates and processes used by the team. The role is involved across planning and design stages, with a focus on producing accurate and buildable outcomes.
Day-to-day you will:
- Produce technical design and author civil calculations and reports for substations and renewable projects.
- Produce and review detailed engineering drawings and models for bulk earthworks, pavements, drainage and footings.
- Review, validate and sign off design outputs prepared by others to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and drafters and coordinate design reviews.
- Liaise with geotechnical, electrical and construction teams to resolve constructability and interface issues.
- Develop and maintain design templates, tools, procedures and quality documentation to improve delivery.
About you
As an experienced Civil Design Officer, you will produce detailed drawings, designs and analysis for bulk civil works on substations and renewable projects, turning site information into standards-compliant, buildable designs.
Key skills required:
- Advanced / Associate Diploma in Engineering or a related discipline and / or an equivalent level of skills or knowledge gained through experience.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a civil designing environment.
- Technical drafting and detailed design using Civil 3D.
- Strong analytical problem solving and clear engineering judgment.
- Drainage modelling experience (DRAINS) and 12D exposure preferred.
- Ability to author Design Basis Reports, pavement calculations and Stormwater Management Plans.
- Knowledge of bulk earthworks, pavements, drainage design and relevant Australian Standards, plus practical familiarity with electrical distribution and renewables.
