About the role
This newly created, full time, permanent role has become available due to Enerven’s growth into the NSW and QLD energy infrastructure market. The role focuses on the design and construction of bulk earthworks, stormwater and drainage systems, access roads, pavements, and associated infrastructure, supporting the delivery of current and future Transgrid substation projects. It offers the opportunity to work on major BESS developments and renewable projects across Australia, further supporting Enerven’s growth into the NSW and QLD market.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical leadership and specialist civil design engineering to deliver practical, compliant solutions aligned with project objectives for bulk civil designs
- Define project scopes and prepare documentation for external service providers
- Support tender evaluation processes to ensure services meet project and commercial requirements
- Make well‑informed engineering decisions by balancing technical, commercial, and contractual considerations
- Ensure all work is managed through appropriate governance and approval processes
- Communicate clearly with clients and key stakeholders, providing technical guidance and proactive engagement to achieve project expectations and delivery outcomes.
About you
This role is suited to an established civil engineer with 5-10 years’ experience who has the ability to run a project and guide and mentor early careers engineers in the team. Previous high-voltage substation and BESS experience in Australia is not essential, however it will be viewed favourably.
Other key skills and experience include:
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), meeting the requirements for admission as a Corporate Member of Engineers Australia
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) is desirable
- Knowledge of Australian Standards including AS3500, AS2890, AS1170
- Knowledge and design experience with AustRoads and other local council and transport authority guidelines
- Operational proficiency in civil design software packages including DRAINS, MUSIC, Circly or similar tools. Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or 12d also preferred.
- Strong time management and project management skills
- Solid communication skills and the confidence to liaise with clients
