About the role

This role reports to the Head of Project Controls and leads planning and scheduling across a large national portfolio of energy infrastructure projects, working closely with project and commercial teams to keep delivery on track. You will manage and support a team of planners, improve how planning is done across projects, and ensure schedules are accurate, reliable, consistent, and meet internal and contractual requirements. The role also supports delay, risk, and earned value assessments, as well as schedule reporting to help more informed decision making.

Day to day you will:

  • Lead and manage a team of Planners and Senior Planners, allocating projects, building team capability, and overseeing performance and professional development.
  • Oversee schedule quality and integrity, ensuring alignment with internal standards, client requirements, contractual obligations, and reporting requirements.
  • Review and provide assurance over subcontractor schedules, including their integration, alignment, and ongoing enhancements.
  • Support the continuous improvement of planning and schedule management practices and processes.
  • Develop critical project schedules where required, including supporting complex projects and providing coverage where required.
  • Support delay, risk, and Earned Value assessments.


About you

This role is suited to a planning professional with 12+ years of planning experience and a strong people and stakeholder management background who enjoys leading a team, solving complex project challenges, and improving how things are done in a fast-paced and technically demanding environment.

Other skills and experience include:

  • Tertiary qualification in a related area (preferably, engineering, construction or project management)
  • 12+ years of planning experience and 2+ years of people management
  • Strong and pragmatic planning experience and skills gained in engineering and construction projects (e.g. Energy, Resources, Infrastructure, or Utilities)
  • Strong command of Primavera P6 (and MS Project as required) and other analysis or planning tools
  • Prior experience working on the contractor-side (engineering and construction, or construction contractors)
  • Experience in and exposure to Earned Value Management
  • Strong communication, people and stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
