About the opportunity

Enerven is growing into Queensland. We are starting work on a new renewable energy project in regional QLD, our first in the state, and we are building the team that will deliver it. Enerven’s scope includes the design and delivery of both civil and electrical Balance of Plant (BoP) for this key renewable projects.

This full-time, 2-year fixed-term role is based in Chermside and reports to the Head of Project Controls. You will travel to the project site in regional QLD as required. You will own cost control for the project from the start, putting in place the budgets, forecasting and reporting that keep delivery on track. You will work closely with the project team and cross-functional teams to keep costs tight, forecasts accurate and targets met. The frameworks established on this project will lay the foundation for Enerven's future work in Queensland.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up the project's cost control structure during mobilisation, including budgets, cost codes, forecasting and reporting
  • Managing budgets, forecasts and cost controls across the project lifecycle
  • Leading the project's cost forecasting process
  • Delivering cost variance analysis that explains what is driving changes in forecasts and cost positions
  • Running strict change and contingency controls
  • Tracking trends and variances so the project team and wider business can make informed decisions
  • Providing clear reports and cost insights that give visibility and support corrective action
  • Managing subcontractor and supplier costs as local partnerships are set up in Queensland

 

About you

You are an experienced project controls cost professional who enjoys setting things up from scratch. You bring the technical skills, commercial sense and communication skills to control costs and contingency on a major project, along with strong analytical skills from previous project controls roles on complex engineering and construction projects.

You will also bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Business or Finance
  • At least 6 years of project cost control experience on complex projects in engineering or construction, such as infrastructure, energy, renewables, or oil and gas
  • Experience with project mobilisation or setting up controls on a new project (highly regarded)
  • The ability to communicate clearly at all levels and turn complex cost and performance data into short, practical insights
  • Strong skills in data analysis, Excel and cost control tools
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach to problem solving
  • Willingness and ability to travel to regional Queensland as required
