About the role

We are leading the delivery of some of the most significant energy projects in Australia. From the 480MWh Summerfield BESS connection and the Hydrogen Job Plans 275kV connection in South Australiathe 2.8GWh Eraring BESS to the 500kV Goulburn River Solar Farm connection work in New South Wales, Enerven is providing the critical infrastructure needed to drive Australia’s renewable energy transition.

Enerven is now also collaborating with utilities across Australia with panel agreements being in place with TransGrid and being the maintenance and service provider for ElectraNet. We also partner with developers including Origin, AGL & AMP

Specialising in civil, structural and overhead line design, the Principal Transmission Lines Engineer leads the delivery of critical high voltage infrastructure projects, providing professional engineering advice to internal stakeholders and external clients. The Principal Transmission Lines Engineer acts as a subject matter expert providing technical support in all areas of overhead transmission line design including bidding and estimating, project scheduling, delivery strategies, construction support and maintenance activities.

Day to day you will:

  • Provide technical leadership and support to the engineering & design project team.
  • Lead the delivery of overhead line design projects in the regulated and unregulated spaces.
  • Provide subject matter expert advice within the business for matters relating to overhead transmission lines and related activity
  • Provide mentoring experience to junior team members
  • Undertake detailed engineering design of overhead transmission lines i.e.
    • Overhead line design (Route selection / structure spotting / PLS-CADD modelling)
    • Structure design (Lattice steel towers, tubular steel poles, Stobie poles, steel / timber / concrete H-frames, guyed masts)
    • Footing design
    • Construction engineering (input into Job Safe Work Method development, construction loading assessments, maintenance tasks, etc)
    • Technical support related to design and engineering disciplines
  • Provide site support to construction and maintenance teams
  • Engage with clients to deliver major infrastructure projects
  • Work with industry suppliers and service providers to facilitate delivery of designs and transmission construction works

 

About you

You will have a strong background in transmission engineering, ideally within construction and maintenance practices, but not essential, along with design expertise, PLS-CADD proficiency and leadership skills.

You will have experience working on high-profile projects valued up to $100m and will gain exposure across all stages from concept through to delivery. You will develop your career within a growing, nationally recognised business, working with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders.

Specific qualifications and experience required include:

  • A minimum of 10 years experience within the Transmission industry
  • Degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering, that will allow admission as Corporate Member of Institute of Engineers, Australia. (CPEng is desirable)
  • Current SA (South Australia) Driver’s license
  • Communication Skills (Oral, written, & interpersonal)
  • Knowledge of Transmission Design, Construction, and Maintenance Methods
  • Transmission Engineering Software Package Skills (PLS-CADD, Tower, & PLS Pole)
  • Project Management Skills (Planning, optioneering, organising, and prioritising)
